The influence of solenoids of various groups on the operation of the transmission
There are 5 normally open and normally closed type solenoids.
Each solenoid has its own marking
OEM FORD Solenoid part numbers

Solenoids are divided into groups based on their pressure characteristics from the effective current value

Pressure values for a normally open solenoid at 78 psi supply pressure.

Pressure values for a normally closed solenoid at 78 psi supply pressure.

As we can see, the difference between neighboring groups is 1-2 psi.

Using a dynamometer, we will measure the pressure on the hydraulic ports of the transmission.

We will conduct testing on a new solenoid block.
- For analysis, let’s take switching 3-4 and 4-3.
- First, we will test with the Group 4 “B” solenoid. Then we will change the “B” solenoid to a Group 2 solenoid.
- Let’s edit the testing program in such a way as to get a slight slip when shifting up 3-4.
